2nd lesson

On the 2nd lesson we saw the presentations that we prepared about the different prototyping techniques, we started with the SLA (Stereolithography) which I think it’s a very interesting technique that it also made the 3d model layer by layer but the cost of these machines can be very expensive; other team also present these technique but they show us the applications in different areas like in the medicine to make models of the human body or in arts.
We present the FDM (fused deposition model) it also made the model layer by layer by adding the plastic from a nozzle, after that the model is merged in water to dissolve all the supports. Another team presents the Laminated Object Manufacturing (LOM) I was impressed by these technique because the models are built from glue backed paper material. We also learned about the open hardware which is a movement created to share different software to create hardware; some of these where very impressive because you can create your own 3d model machine in a very low cost compare with the others.
Finally we saw the Selective Laser Sintering (SLS) also to create 3d models but the one difference is that this machine can also print metal models.

In the second part of the class they saw the Digitizer and they also learn how to scan an object and they explain that to me, unfortunately I couldn’t saw it because of the meeting organized by SALDI.
